I am planning my first cruise for next April and I’m wondering if it’s cheaper/better to book through the cruise website or travel agent. Thanks!

Since this is your first I’d advise you to use a travel agent as they will be able to answer the hundreds of questions you are going to have.
Such as — what deck you want your cabin to be on,
transportation between the airport & the Port or where a vehicle you drove to the port can be parked.
    What excursions are worth pre-arranging.
Just whole bunches of topics a good travel agent can advise you on.

First cruise, I’d always recommend using travel agent, unless you’ve done a LOT of research already and know exactly what you want. It won’t be much cheaper – if at all – using an on-line agent.

I don’t trust a TA. after what happen to me, I go right through the cruise line. get a personal relationship with a pvp and book all my cruises through him.

I have an excellent travel agent, and she does a great job for me! She is always able to get a price at least as low and can be found anywhere else, and often lower. She handles all air fare, transfers, hotels, travel insurance. She even sends a bottle of wine to the cabin as a lovely treat. I like dealing with a person I know and can talk to directly! (And I trust her with my credit card information, and that is a BIG deal these days!) By the way, it costs you O to use a travel agent.

through an agent. I’ve gotten better rates over the phone than the website. By the way, call cruise agents not external travel agencies, it’s also better.

I recommend booking vacations through Elite Incentive Travel. They provide options for luxury, leisure, and honeymoon/romance travel.

Definitely use a travel agent, but look for one who SPECIALIZES in cruises.

A good travel agent, knowing this is your first cruise, will go all out to make sure you have a terrific experience. Why? Because statistics show that 85% of people who take their first cruise wind up taking another. Most of them become regular cruisers.

That why a smart travel agent wants you as a customer!

It’s also who so many people become home-based travel agents specializing in cruises. If you wind up falling in love with crusing, that’s somethong you might want to consider.
